Leveraging Creativity & Philanthropy for Social Impact in Atlanta
WHEN: Thursday, October 17th at 11:30am - 1:30pm (EST)
WHERE: RFD Social at Ponce City Market
(675 Ponce de Leon Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30308)
Hosted by Mailchimp
According to the Opportunity Atlas, a research collaboration between the Census Bureau, Harvard University, and Brown University, Atlanta is one of the least equitable cities in the United States. Their research illustrates how the neighborhoods in which children grow up shape children’s outcomes in adulthood. Each day, powerful systemic forces create barriers to success; making it difficult for many of our neighbors to rise out of poverty and achieve better life outcomes. The tension between the region’s prosperity and social immobility has inspired a new crop of innovators looking to make a lasting impact in restoring the American Dream.
Atlanta’s social entrepreneurs are reframing entrenched problems and developing creative, collaborative solutions. A growing ecosystem of organizations, initiatives, and funders are stepping up to support this work. Many of them aspire to make Atlanta a hub for the teaching, learning and scaling of community-driven ideas by community leaders.
Join us as we explore the opportunities of creative impact work and hear directly from field leaders about their challenges and successes in this emerging field of philanthropy.
