Georgia’s Teacher Workforce Pipeline
Presented in Partnership with Georgia Education Funders Collaborative
Lunch Hosted by the R. Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation

When: Thursday, March 14, 2019, 11:30am-2:00pm (ET)
Where: Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta
191 Peachtree St., Suite 1000 (10th Floor), Atlanta, GA 30303

Each year, more than 6,000 teachers come into Georgia classrooms with less than one year of experience. Exacerbating high turnover rates, the state’s educator preparation programs report a decline in the number of people completing education degrees. This workforce pipeline is insufficient for the metro Atlanta region, and the recruitment/retention challenges are even more dire in rural Georgia.

At our next Lunch & Learn, we’ll hear from national and statewide experts on how philanthropy can support work to bring more teachers into Georgia classrooms and encourage them to stay on the job and become the experienced educators our children need.

Our speakers include:

Kate Walsh
Executive Director,
National Council on Teacher Quality
Elizabeth Hearn
Program Director,
CREATE Teacher Residency Program
