Getting to Know SECF

If you’re new to the SECF family, or are considering applying for membership, we want to make sure you know everything that makes SECF a grantmaker network like no other.

Last week, we hosted “Getting to Know SECF,” a webinar highlighting the people, programs, events and benefits that have made us one of the strongest and most vibrant grantmaker networks in the country, one that has continued to attract new members all while hitting a 96 percent retention rate in the last year.

If you couldn’t make this webinar, or joined us but would like to review what makes SECF membership so valuable, you can view the entire presentation below. Our speakers included me, as well as SECF President & CEO Janine Lee, Senior Director of Programs & Partnerships Dwayne Marshall, Director of Marketing & Communications David Miller, and three members of the SECF Board of Trustees – Bob Fockler of the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, Stephanie Cooper-Lewter of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, and Gilbert Miller of the Bradley-Turner Foundation.

If you’re interested in learning more about SECF, including becoming a member, here are a few things you can do:

  • Apply for membership: Our membership application is online and can be submitted either electronically or via mail. Provisional members enjoy the full benefits of membership, including special rates for SECF events and programs, access to our helpful and responsive staff, and reduced rates for key grantmaker resources and services.

  • Attend the Annual Meeting: The region’s premiere philanthropic event heads to Orlando, Florida, this year, and will include an orientation session and reception for new members and first-time attendees. The Annual Meeting is immediately preceded by a variety of preconference opportunities as well. Learn more about the Annual Meeting here.

  • Join our mailing list: Every Monday, SECF sends out Grantmaker Opportunities, a roundup of key events and programs taking place within the Southeast and beyond. All SECF events are listed, as well as numerous other conferences, webinars and leadership development opportunities. You can subscribe here.

Finally, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me for assistance. I can be reached at (404) 524-0911 or I look forward to hearing from you!

Jaci Bertrand is SECF’s Director of Member Engagement.
