Passing Gear in the Palmetto State:
Innovative Solutions for South Carolina Grantmakers
Presented in partnership with MDC and the South Carolina Grantmakers Network

Where: South Carolina ETV
When: August 16, 2018, 11:00am–3:30pm (ET)

Last year, SECF and MDC came together to publish Philanthropy as the South's Passing Gear: Fulfilling the Promise. Released a decade after the first 'Passing Gear' study, this report offers an update on the state of the region, noting issues that the South needs to face and change, while also providing a framework for achieving lasting impact and highlighting recent examples of transformative philanthropy led by Southern foundations.

On Thursday, August 16, South Carolina grantmakers have an exclusive opportunity for a deeper exploration of how Passing Gear principles can be applied specifically to the communities in their state. In partnership with the South Carolina Grantmakers Network, SECF and MDC are offering an exclusive opportunity to hear from MDC President David Dodson examine the challenges facing the state – and the innovative solutions grantmakers can pursue to address them.

MDC President David Dodson will lead an interactive discussion on how South Carolina foundations can apply the principles of Passing Gear philanthropy to address adaptive challenges – those problems in which our ideals are challenged by the reality of current circumstances. Participants will be invited to explore the problems they are working on already and how the habits and practices of Passing Gear philanthropy can be deployed to advance better social outcomes in their communities.

Join us Thursday, August 16, from 11:00am – 3:30pm (ET) for this unique opportunity – click the link below to register!
