How Philanthropy is Helping to Connect Atlantans of All Ages to Nature  with Special Guest Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms!

This luncheon will be the final in our series about several important issues related to the future of Atlanta. We will explore the cross-sector benefits of connecting Atlantans, especially youth and underserved communities, to nature and the role of philanthropy.

Please join us for flash talks from a selection of environmental leaders in Atlanta doing innovative work in this space:

Featured Speakers:
  · Rashid Nuri, Founder, Truly Living Well
  · Angelou Ezeilo
, CEO and Founder, Greening Youth Foundation
  · Darryl Haddock, Education Director, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance

This event will also feature optional tours of the Bellwood Quarry, which is set to be transformed into Westside Reservoir Park – when complete, the park will be the biggest greenspace in Atlanta. Tours will last approximately 30 minutes and are scheduled immediately before and after the event. You will be able to sign up for one of the tours when registering.

If you’ve already decided to join us, here are a few reminders to help you get the most out of this event.

  • Dress comfortably! This Forum will include nature walks and will be exclusively outside. We recommend appropriate footwear, hats and sunglasses, if you choose. Restrooms will be available onsite.
  • What if it rains? There is a chance of rain midday tomorrow. In that event, we will proceed as planned unless there is lighting or other unsafe conditions. You may wish to bring an umbrella to help stay dry.
  • We encourage using MARTA (green line). It’s only a 10 minute ride from Five Points to Bankhead. The trailhead is directly across the street from the Bankhead rail station.
  • Optional Bellwood Quarry Tours: If you registered for the optional Bellwood Quarry tours, golf carts will loop from registration to the trail leading to the quarry and back. Please plan to arrive no later than 11:00am for the early tour. If you choose to walk to the quarry, please give yourself 15-20 minutes.
If you need any help finding your way, please call Will Kauffman at (573) 424-3216, or Meghan Pietrantonio at (404) 694-9292.
